Tea. I’ve spent that last two weeks trying to develop a taste for tea. I’ve not been terribly successful and I think I finally figured out why.
Unlike many people who love coffee, I drink decaf purely for the taste of it. I drink it strong with sweetener and a splash of cream.
I kept expecting tea to be similar and therein lies the problem. It’s not strong (at least not the ones I’ve tried) it’s definitely not sweet (despite the claims on the box to the contrary) and I can’t even imagine putting in milk.
So, I’ve decided to reframe my relationship with tea. Instead of thinking of it as a coffee substitute, now I think of it as hot water with a hint of flavor. My mind, taste budsĀ and stomach can deal with that paradigm easily and I’m not disappointed every time I take a sip.
