Detox – Day 15

Now that we’ve gotten into groove of things, we are discussing how we will integrate what we’ve learned into our lives once the cleanse is over.  Frankly, we’ve not come up with a lot.  We’re so eager to get back to our favorite foods, it seems even harder to think about what to cut out.

Here’s a preliminary list:

  • Make fruit the dessert of choice (easy during the summer, but can we hang on beyond the summer? could this be the end of dark chocolate peanut M&Ms?)
  • Select carbs carefully and minimize them
  • Minimize dairy
  • Juice for breakfast
  • Drink tea sometimes instead of coffee all the time (and without any sweetener and cream)
  • Remember that cooking a veggie dish from scratch doesn’t take long
  • Make planning, shopping and cooking a family affair

On the menu front, another breakthrough: spirulina at breakfast and spinach at lunch.  Here are the details:

Breakfast

  • Pineapple, blueberry, cucumber, mango, spirulina juice (kinda gritty, way too green but not bad!)
  • Almonds
  • Licorice tea

Lunch

  • Spinach, grapefruit, pear, ginger juice (yum!)
  • licorice tea
  • Dried apricots

Dinner

  • Roasted vegetables (zucchini, beets, leeks, carrots) over basmati rice
  • Watermelon & cantaloupe
